Fairy tale endings require work

From a young age we watched & were read stories about heroes. Watching sporting champions go from strength to strength, breaking records & having an enormous adoring audience cheer them on. Constantly feeding our minds stories of others who ‘against all odds’ continually conquered their enemies.

Whether it be beast, foe or a journey to find true love. Romancer or warrior. We all crave for the underdog to win. In love & war; in boxing movies, to be the Rocky in our own life. We are a generation of people hungry to be the star of our own story. And we all can be. As long as we have a clear goal that we will see through no matter what obstacles come our way.

RESILIENCE!rock-ronda-640
No matter what the challenge ahead, we all have an ability to win within us. Sounds so simple to say out loud yet, one thing the fairy tales did not prepare us for was the time it sometimes takes to grow into the victor we so deeply admire. I know I personally, have had to learn that a business plan drawn out is simple (in the mind). To back it up with the amount of work and effort it requires to get off the ground is where you will have to dig deep and find your inner hero.

It takes courage. It takes a champion attitude in the mist of pain and agitation. Writing down on a piece of paper what you want is easy. Yet most people don’t even do that scared of the outcome of actually achieving it. Setting yourself apart from the masses & growing into that, can sometimes take years of practice and delayed gratification.

We have to be able to cop the smaller punches to then be able to get back up after the knock-outs. Following nothing but a small whisper of intuition that tells you everything is going to be ok. Growing more resilient with every hit. Slowly putting into practise a set of completely new habits that others will look at from a distance later on in your journey and say stupid things like;
Yeah But ” They were always like that”/ “They were Lucky” / “I would be where they are too if I had a natural talent for”…  Throw away comments to satisfy the excuses for why they are where they are in life.

This movie montage experience growing up led us to believe that it can be a 5 minute process of just deciding to change and then having your whole world turn upside down and BAM! We are successful millionaires.. Right place, right time. We went to the gym 5 times and got a six-pack. We went to a 3 day weekend seminar which automatically turned us into an overnight success. Oh and of course -Luck! We will win the lotto one day & then our life will finally be in order…… (Don’t get me started on this one…)

I hope you understand I always mean this the utmost respect. Sometimes we all (myself included) need a reality check to prevent us from sucking on our thumbs for too long. Have a clear picture in your mind as to what you want in life & after you do, Please NOTE: you will be challenged. No one has ever breezed through life unscathed in the process. We have all been denied, pushed back, rejected. Depends on how you look at it. We could say instead that; we have all been forced to change our approach due to little or no take up on our original pitch or idea… maybe? …

The point is: We are all humans. We all have weaknesses. We all have ego’s. The brilliance of being a hero in your own story is you control the outcome. So the question I wish to leave with you is: When you look at the story of your life;

Are you the hero? Or do you have some work to do?

Tell Us How You Really Feel!

Tell us how you really feel

Go on! I dare you.. Put it out there.

What annoys you?
What “Really Grinds My Gears”
What gives you a state of bliss?
What makes you cry? or laugh out loud?
What makes you fearful?
Tell us how you really feel?…

The only way you will start to really move on with your life is if you lay it out on the table. Good and bad. Fun and ugly. All of it makes an accumulation of who we are and why we do what we do on a day-to-day basis.

Entrepreneurs find a need. They obsess about a missing link in a system, structure or within their own life. Until they get to the point that they realise that;
that need, needs to be fixed.

Not all Entrepreneurs get wealthy fixing the needs they see in the world. But they do own their life and take control of going after something that gives them passion. Which in return, gives them so much more abundance than an average person who hasn’t asked themselves these sort of questions. Imagine having the sort of wealth within you that money can’t buy? What would that be worth to you?

So what are you waiting for? Tell us how you really feel?!

Just don’t try, because you won’t get what you want

Opening Scene:
Let me paint you a picture of what I overheard while skipping from one part of the cold and wet city of Melbourne just the other day. Jumping on a tram as I dust the rain off my coat to sit down. A friend looks deeply into the eyes of her other friend as I sit down. Mixture of concern and disgust while her friend is looking back at her in excitement. “Cindy… That great, I’m happy for you but just … “Don’t give your hopes up“.

Granted, No one ever means ill in doing so. It’s generally to protect the people we care about but let’s be honestly. That is a horrible thing to say to another person you care about! “Just don’t try, because you won’t get what you want”.

Being involved in life requires you to take risks. Here’s what happens as a result of giving this advice to your children, to your spouses or your closest friend. (Lets say Hypothetically) They have natural ambition & never really taken a chance on themselves til now. Something or someone has inspired them to have a go. They start something for themselves whether it be; Traditional business, Self employment, Engaging life as an Entrepreneur or have been involved in a Start up Project.
Thoughts like this start to arise somewhere along the journey:
“But what if I try my best and it doesn’t work”.
“But what if I waste 3 years of my life & I have to start over”.
“But what if”…. I do give my hopes up.

Self-disciplined begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. Simply, self-discipline enables you to think first and act afterward. – Napoleon Hill

It hurts to see so much talent being poisoned by negative self talk. If you are creating a foundation of insecurity for your future plans. And also; (let me highlight) its setting an unrealistic foundation of insecurity. You are damaging the BEST part of being on an Entrepreneur! Rather! Of being ALIVE!
The part that creates your own personality. The Dream – Struggle – Victory.  Nothing happens without the struggle and yet with a negative self talk – we can’t receive victory without knowing the struggle is apart of the process. It’s not because “It isn’t working” or “I’m just not that sort of person”. Those are excuses.

So, How about:
But what if … it worked!
But what if … this all has the potential to change me into the person that I was really born to become! Rather, the person I Need To Become, to achieve my dreams and goals.
But what if I got everything I could have ever dreamed about.
But what if I just have to do the work to get all these things regardless of what that entails.

That is, MUCH more realistic.

Whatever we spend most of our time and energy focusing on, becomes our life. It might take a year, or 5 – 10 years to come into fruition, dependent on how much leverage or resources you start with. But what does that matter in the grand scheme of things? If it takes a little longer than you wanted – so what!?

Feel free to take risks. Take a chance. Take Action! Go out there and do it 100 times wrong to get it right! When you start to realise how much opportunity surrounds us in this age we are living in, you will soon realise that: As long as you don’t quit, you can not fail. Start talking your life into existence.

Give your hopes up!!!

Being a lean startup is cool but being a lean tight-arse is not!

Who knows that every business transaction is generally a two-way street?! It is an exchange of value between 2 parties or more. Dependant on how much value is exchanged will depend on the value given. No exchange, not enough value. Simple right?

Let me put it to you another way…
If you want someone to take an interest in you / in your product, then you need to take an interest in them! Take an interest in what their needs are and what you can bring to the table to fulfil that need. It is NOT about dominating someone with a load of facts and figures. Just because you think it is a good idea, does not mean everybody else will.

“People don’t care how much you know, till they know how much you care”

If you are serious about being an Entrepreneur. If you are serious about building genuine long-term customers / partnerships / employees. If you are serious about achieving all the things you want out of life. Then remember this: Service is an action word. Appreciate the people around you. Stop being so caught up in getting all the things you want in life that you forget to take the time to appreciate what really makes our lives full – relationships. Correction – Enriched Relationships! Your external life is a mere reflection of an internal game. How you play that game will be exposed with time.

No one will want to do business with you if you are just out to get them. There is nothing more frustrating than someone who is just out to ‘take’ with no equal value returned. Over a period of time, your revolving door of people will make life extremely difficult to manage.

So people, for your own benefit:
Be genuine. Be authentic.
Work like you were changing the world in doing so.
Remember that Courage is Contagious.
Honesty is Honorable.
& I promise you – Success will come as a result from doing these daily motives boldly enough for long enough.

5 things your mates won’t tell you…

mates

People approach us all the time and are always looking for that secret method to success. “How did you do it?” Surely it was due to luck. Was it a matter of the right timing? Being in the next best thing early enough?

I am here to squash those questions of the limited thinkers and give it to you straight. The gloves are off. Here are some of the things that you really should be doing if you want to make it big IN ANYTHING.

  1. Be Reliable.

If people can not count on you. They will not want to build a relationship with you. If they do not want to build a relationship with you. You have no business. It is so simple. Show up to the appointments you say you are going to be at. Follow through on what you said you were going to do. Don’t be so swayed by what outside influences. Be a person of your word.

  1. Know what you want.

We recently had Anthony Robbins no.1 facilitator; home-grown Aussie boy Scott Harris, speak at one of our events. His main message was about figuring out what your values are. Without a concrete vision of what your values you – you will struggle to make good decisions. Life is full of opportunities, adventure, mysteries, growth, pain & wonder. It’s all part and parcel of the journey. Without a crystal clear vision of the direction you are heading in – you will be procrastinating your whole way through life and never learn to take risks on the things you could find passion in. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

  1. Get Comfortable at uncomfortable conversations.

Confrontation!!! Yes! It is the heartbeat to your personal development. Your height of success will come down to the amount of uncomfortable conversations you are willing to have. Now, don’t mistake what I am saying here. I am not talking about rude, hurtful, unnecessary confrontation. I am talking about the kind of conversations that challenge you. Don’t hide behind your phone when someone is calling you. Be comfortable enough in your own skin that you can say “No” to someone else. Or rather, be able to stand up for yourself. As well as caring enough about someone else that you are open to challenging them on some negative beliefs that are holding them back in life. Man up.  Have the conversations in life that give you sweaty palms!

  1. Take on Feedback.

I have a secret I don’t like to share with many people…… Shhh…. I’m not perfect…. There you go, I said it! Don’t tell me husband!! I am not perfect. By far actually. I make mistakes ALL.THE.TIME! When I was single. I was never aware of these mistakes because I only lived with myself and myself always agrees with myself. Because all my decisions, are based on self. Haha. Funny that right? So when I started living with Dom, all of a sudden, someone was pointing out to me all these flaws and habits that I had that weren’t healthy. To be fair – I had fun pointing his out in retaliation. But my point is, if you don’t allow people to give you feedback, You will never know what people’s view of you, actually is. I know people who are the sweetest personalities in the world and they think people don’t like them. Then, you have the opposite side of the spectrum with really loud arrogant personalities that think everyone loves them! Take on feedback. It will help you grow and make sure you are operating from a level of higher understanding of yourself and others.

  1. DO THE WORK!

Get off you butt and do whatever it takes to achieve the things you want in life. Stop bargaining with the price tag. Just go out there and make sure that everyday you give it all you got. Open yourself up to new things. Listen to others who have gone before you. Read, listen, associate and then apply.  We have so much information available to us in todays age. Have you ever wondered why with so much information available – everyone is not SLIM, RICH & HAPPY? Apply the knowledge. Don’t stop until its done. Do the work.

Do we really need to talk about luck now?
