Just don’t try, because you won’t get what you want

Opening Scene:
Let me paint you a picture of what I overheard while skipping from one part of the cold and wet city of Melbourne just the other day. Jumping on a tram as I dust the rain off my coat to sit down. A friend looks deeply into the eyes of her other friend as I sit down. Mixture of concern and disgust while her friend is looking back at her in excitement. “Cindy… That great, I’m happy for you but just … “Don’t give your hopes up“.

Granted, No one ever means ill in doing so. It’s generally to protect the people we care about but let’s be honestly. That is a horrible thing to say to another person you care about! “Just don’t try, because you won’t get what you want”.

Being involved in life requires you to take risks. Here’s what happens as a result of giving this advice to your children, to your spouses or your closest friend. (Lets say Hypothetically) They have natural ambition & never really taken a chance on themselves til now. Something or someone has inspired them to have a go. They start something for themselves whether it be; Traditional business, Self employment, Engaging life as an Entrepreneur or have been involved in a Start up Project.
Thoughts like this start to arise somewhere along the journey:
“But what if I try my best and it doesn’t work”.
“But what if I waste 3 years of my life & I have to start over”.
“But what if”…. I do give my hopes up.

Self-disciplined begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do. Simply, self-discipline enables you to think first and act afterward. – Napoleon Hill

It hurts to see so much talent being poisoned by negative self talk. If you are creating a foundation of insecurity for your future plans. And also; (let me highlight) its setting an unrealistic foundation of insecurity. You are damaging the BEST part of being on an Entrepreneur! Rather! Of being ALIVE!
The part that creates your own personality. The Dream – Struggle – Victory.  Nothing happens without the struggle and yet with a negative self talk – we can’t receive victory without knowing the struggle is apart of the process. It’s not because “It isn’t working” or “I’m just not that sort of person”. Those are excuses.

So, How about:
But what if … it worked!
But what if … this all has the potential to change me into the person that I was really born to become! Rather, the person I Need To Become, to achieve my dreams and goals.
But what if I got everything I could have ever dreamed about.
But what if I just have to do the work to get all these things regardless of what that entails.

That is, MUCH more realistic.

Whatever we spend most of our time and energy focusing on, becomes our life. It might take a year, or 5 – 10 years to come into fruition, dependent on how much leverage or resources you start with. But what does that matter in the grand scheme of things? If it takes a little longer than you wanted – so what!?

Feel free to take risks. Take a chance. Take Action! Go out there and do it 100 times wrong to get it right! When you start to realise how much opportunity surrounds us in this age we are living in, you will soon realise that: As long as you don’t quit, you can not fail. Start talking your life into existence.

Give your hopes up!!!

Being a lean startup is cool but being a lean tight-arse is not!

Who knows that every business transaction is generally a two-way street?! It is an exchange of value between 2 parties or more. Dependant on how much value is exchanged will depend on the value given. No exchange, not enough value. Simple right?

Let me put it to you another way…
If you want someone to take an interest in you / in your product, then you need to take an interest in them! Take an interest in what their needs are and what you can bring to the table to fulfil that need. It is NOT about dominating someone with a load of facts and figures. Just because you think it is a good idea, does not mean everybody else will.

“People don’t care how much you know, till they know how much you care”

If you are serious about being an Entrepreneur. If you are serious about building genuine long-term customers / partnerships / employees. If you are serious about achieving all the things you want out of life. Then remember this: Service is an action word. Appreciate the people around you. Stop being so caught up in getting all the things you want in life that you forget to take the time to appreciate what really makes our lives full – relationships. Correction – Enriched Relationships! Your external life is a mere reflection of an internal game. How you play that game will be exposed with time.

No one will want to do business with you if you are just out to get them. There is nothing more frustrating than someone who is just out to ‘take’ with no equal value returned. Over a period of time, your revolving door of people will make life extremely difficult to manage.

So people, for your own benefit:
Be genuine. Be authentic.
Work like you were changing the world in doing so.
Remember that Courage is Contagious.
Honesty is Honorable.
& I promise you – Success will come as a result from doing these daily motives boldly enough for long enough.
